One of the most prestigious and well established competitive swimming clubs in Dublin is looking for a new swim coach. The ideal candidate will be dynamic and passionate about competitive swimming.

The club has 100 competitive members and 160 learn to swim members. With both junior and senior squads competing at regional and national level. The right coach will be expected to develop the swimming club and help it continue to thrive, both competitively and by increasing membership.

There is an agreed start date of September 2024. Hours will be split across coaching, learn to swim, administration and attending competitive events. Training will take place in the evening on weekdays and mornings and afternoons at the weekends.


The Head Coach will carry out duties assigned by the club’s Committee including:

πŸŸ‚ To provide a positive and safe environment for all members

πŸŸ‚ To deliver a technical swim program for competitive swimmers following Swim Ireland LTADΒ  (Long Term Athlete Development Plan).

πŸŸ‚ Manage and mentor the Coaching Team to deliver the Coaching Plan.

πŸŸ‚ To primarily coach the club’s National Senior Squad but some coaching hours and oversight will beΒ  required with more junior squads to optimise their development.

πŸŸ‚ To oversee and provide advice about the club’s Learn to Swim program to ensure the coachingΒ  team deliver this program to the highest standards

πŸŸ‚ Ensure all members at all levels are coached and trained to reach their full potential

πŸŸ‚ Be a positive role model, creating an encouraging and motivating swim environment

πŸŸ‚ Evaluate sessions and give feedback to coaches and swimmers

πŸŸ‚ Mentor and develop the Coaching Team

πŸŸ‚ Travel to events and competitions agreed with Committee

πŸŸ‚ Support the Committee in its fundraising efforts for the club

πŸŸ‚ Attend Continuing Education Courses offered to Coaches


πŸŸ‚ Hard Working and Passionate about swimming and the development of junior athletes

πŸŸ‚ Have an excellent understating of stroke mechanics and teaching principles, including strength and conditioning

πŸŸ‚ Vast β€œon deck” experience

πŸŸ‚ Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player

πŸŸ‚ Strong leadership and communication skills

πŸŸ‚ Excellent organisational skills and problem solving

πŸŸ‚ Ability to manage, develop and mentor the Coaching Team especially the junior coaches


πŸŸ‚ Swim Ireland (SI) Level 2 Swimming Coach (or equivalent). Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)Β  preferred.

πŸŸ‚ SI or Sports Ireland Safeguarding Level 1 certificate

πŸŸ‚ Garda Vetted SI

πŸŸ‚ SI coach licence
